Jan Michael Romano

I’m Jan Michael Romano, JM for short, currently serving as the Stage Manager and Dance Master for GANAP Performing Arts Association.

My journey began on the streets, where my fellow dancers and I honed our skills for various competitions. One contest stands out, held in a challenging area with few participants due to its location. Despite the risks, we were determined to participate and secure a win. As victors, we celebrated on our way back home, but our joy was short-lived. During our journey, we were attacked by individuals who disagreed with the contest’s outcome, and I was struck in the head with a large rock. Thankfully, my injury was not severe, and I eventually regained consciousness. Despite my parents’ concerns, I resumed street dancing after a brief recovery. However, as I entered college, my involvement in street dance dwindled as academic responsibilities took precedence. It was during this period that I learned of an audition for a performing arts group and decided to try my luck. I was accepted and became a part of the group. Over time, the management of the performing arts group faced challenges and eventually disbanded. A new group formed on campus, which I joined, marking my entry into GANAP.

Since its establishment in 2016, I have been a member of GANAP. My involvement not only enhanced my dancing skills but also instilled deeper lessons. GANAP guided us in discovering our potential, extending a helping hand, bringing smiles to those who had lost hope, and carrying the group’s legacy not only in the Philippines but also in other countries through music and the arts. My fellow GANAP members and I are dedicated to passing on our values to the next generation.
